Independent Film of the Month

Woke Up Alive - submitted by Mark Blacknell and Michael Poggenburg, offers a fresh and hopeful look at the controversial land of Israel. Rather than focus on war, death, and man-made chaos, "Woke Up Alive" follows a more natural spontaneity to find peace, music, friendship, and most all, openness in the every day lives of the diverse citizens of Israel. Check out their trailer - it's awesome!

Film Maker Tip of the Month
Talking with Potential Investors

As you saw in our How to Make a Movie short course, you should not approach potential investors until after you have a budget, script and business plan. Even then, what is the best way to approach them?

Simple, and very similar to the process of job hunting. Do not ask for the final result (money for your film) right away. Ask the Investor to review your Business Plan - get them involved in the process, ask for their expertise, show you respect their knowledge, insight and opinion. If you successfully ask a potential investor to review your business plan, within the context of offering you their expertise, they will be far more receptive when you do actually ask for funds, or in many cases, they will ask if they can invest with you!

As it turned out, the business plan WAS the hardest thing I've ever done, but with the tools in the package, it made it much less stressful and the more I got into it, I thought to myself - YES!!!.quoted text
