How I discovered screenwriting in the villages of Africa...

In Far Rock, I was born in what we call the concrete jungle. As far on the downtown A train as you can go. I navigated through the jungles of Hillmeyer Ave, Arverne, and Beach Channel until I was about 12 years old. For a lot of it, it was just me and my pops for the most part.
Writing poems and prose were the tools of my trade. I used them to steer through streets, alleyways, abandoned playgrounds. Around that same age, my pops got with the woman that would become my stepmoms and the daughter that would become my stepsister.
Together we all moved down south to North Carolina. Middle school, high school and college were all swallowed up in a lonesome whirlwind. After college I wandered around several countries in Africa searching for glimpses of my identity and purpose.
In the villages of Africa I discovered screenwriting and it became my life force. And I have been chasing it every since. But actually if you search through my life, the tapestry of it, I’ve been chasing screenwriting since those days in the concrete jungle.
