BROKEN DREAMS is a sports/crime drama suggested by a true story about a promising high school football player who slips into rebelliousness and crime when his mother dies but gets a second chance for a football scholarship when his new girlfriend rescues him from a drug deal gone bad.

Popular urban high school football star Jonathan Haskins is on track for a college scholarship when his mother dies suddenly and his father immediately remarries. So Jonathan has to move in with an aunt and start over in a suburban school where he is now a nobody and a lowly retail clerk at the mall. The one bright spot in his life is his new girlfriend, Eryn, a pretty mall security guard who loves football, saw Jonathan's game tape, and encourages him not to give up on his dream. But Jonathan is too bitter to listen.

Feeling discouraged about his future prospects, Jonathan says yes when his cousin asks him to be an accomplice to a mall drug deal. The plan is for the cousin to make the drop while pretending to exchange an item at a store, while Jonathan uses the store phone to signal the rest of the gang when the coast is clear. Unfortunately for Jonathan, a mall security guard catches the other
participants while Jonathan is fingered as an accomplice. But that security guard is Eryn, and she gives Jonathan a second chance to achieve his dream by speaking out on his behalf and showing his game tape to her uncle, a college recruiter.
