The Chico Independent Film Festival

The Chico Independent Film Festival

The independent film artists within our community in Chico are a dedicated array of people, belonging to a number of local/global groups and organizations. With the assistance of the Chico downtown community, the CIFF seeks to bring these people together in a collaborative and creative atmosphere, while working with the Chico business community through various avenues of promotion. Also, we have been invited to be in 'Artoberfest' with assistance by Debra Lucero to help with our showings for

The CIFF works to meld the vision of art and commerce, and blend it with travel and tourism—presenting a well-balanced and well-received launch of Chico's only Independent Film Festival. The combination of local talent, virtual cooperative communities, and interactive collaboration will enable a successful event that will carry on for years; thus, fostering an environment where local commerce and tourism will not only contribute to a successful event, but will also encourage event participants to support our community’s businesses. The in-kind donations will focus on and be used for the organizational operations of the CIFF, from inception and throughout the culmination of the festival, ensuring a well-run, professional event for our community.

Donations will also be used to facilitate the creative participation of artists, and to allow participation of Chico businesses, organizations and other groups/communities.

A number of local businesses and groups have already contributed their financial or in- kind. Your support will go a long way to making this festival a success!

Requiring a minimum expense for flyers, brochures and travel-related expenses, CIFF will utilize partnerships with local groups; such as, CSU Computer Science (World Winning Finalists for Programming CGI), a local group of filmmakers, and local educational/civic group. Additional promotional avenues will be in the form of a "making of" project, using footage from the event. The festival will be recorded throughout with digital film and photography, and is to be used on the website and for social media with ongoing promotions.

CIFF plans on promoting, marketing and advertising the wide variety of multimedia and social-networking, as well as other traditional and other various "alternative" methods consistent with current technology.

Also, it will use a variety of media, many of which are already used significantly by the film and artistic community, especially on the Internet.

We look forward to this opportunity to promote another facet of the vibrant arts community in Chico, and to the successful realization of Chico's Independent Film Festival.

Thank you,

CIFF California

Thank you...this woman conned me. And I watched her con others. I am, as many others, also part of the Kelly Desmore's Stalkers Club. There are many of fact...I think it's maybe almost everyone in Chico. I was fished in to be a web designer in the second year of CIFF. I made no money...she lived off of me for free for three months promising she'd pay me back after the festival...i made her two different websites in the mean time a media rich one for web and a simple one for iPhone access. I really wanted the project and now she owed me a lot of money. One night she lost her drugs and came home flipped out. I cut my losses and kicked her out, she "generously" admitted she owed me at least $2500 and and screamed at me I would get my money back, "you greedy pig." The next few months I received crazy ass incoherent emails first about paying me back, then she owed me nothing, then I was running a child molesting/ rapist ring with an ex boyfriend she also had a problem with. But everyone she didn't like was doing that too...which was half the people I knew (or screwed over) in Chico so...if all you are getting is stalking...kudos...but just wait...the best is yet to come with this Psycho. If you can bring her and her sham festival down, I and many others applaud you a million times over. She is a crook and bat shit crazy, but somehow she keeps going.

  • Just want to thank you for your materials and help over the past year. I could not have raised the $1.5 million or made this film without the materials you provided -- and for $99? The bargain of my career!

  • I'm now sending out my completed business plan/film proposal document to potential investors and the one comment I'm getting back almost immediately is that it's so well laid out and professional. Believe me, first impressions really do count.

  • This is perfect! I have potential investors but I had no idea how to prepare a professional investment package to present to them. (I'm an artiste', not a business person. :) ) The information is clear and easy to understand, and Melissa is very prompt in answering emails.

  • When I came across the Business Plan Tools and the Finance Guide, I felt like I could stop searching for the pot of gold...I’d found it. In one place, with clear, easy to follow materials and spreadsheets, my questions were answered.

  • Hi Melissa! I purchased Package #3 a couple of days ago, and I feel like I'm taking a crash course in film financing. So far, what I've read and learned has been invaluable. Thank you!

  • I've made short films before, but this is my first feature, and the first film I've tried raising money for. This template, actually the whole package, has been invaluable and well worth the money I spent on it. So much information is packed into what I got that I'm almost dizzy from it all.
