Go Nowhere Documentary

Go Nowhere is a documentary film that covers two people's lives that are closely intertwined for well over thirty years. The first person, Dave Insurgent, lead singer of the infamous New York punk band Reagan Youth, took his own life in 1994 after a long struggle with heroin addiction that left his life in shambles. His girlfriend was killed a few months previous to this event by serial killer Joel Rifkin, who the tow of them knew because she was a street walking prostitute and Joel was a regular. In fact it was Dave that physically ushered her into Rifkin's car.

During all this Kenny Young was a friend, musical collaborative and a drug buddy. Kenny was a heroin addict as well and for the next twenty years he remained one, abusing crack as well as heroin on a daily basis. Oddly enough Kenny Young was asked to take Dave's place in the group as the front man, which was a strange and unnerving duty to undertake.

I am that man and addiction has led me to death's door, quite literally, spending months in a wheelchair in a nursing home at my worst and doing time in jail. During assorted bottom phases, and bouncing from active using to brief periods of sobriety I began to chronicle our lives, Dave and I. Having been clean and sober for some time now I have gotten the great bulk of this work done, filming those who knew Dave the best, his friends and loved ones, as well as those in my life who have held and hold similar positions.

I am painting a picture of love, music, loss, life, death, addiction, and antiquity through illustrations of a New York long gone. A life long gone.
